Kids: use this announcement to let people know about your party!

Teachers and Parents: Duplicate this announcement to create another promotional piece - something to hand to kids, parents, teachers, and other customers. Post the announcement in your store, the local library, or your neighborhood school.

Ramona's thoughts on life, behaving herself, and the tooth fairy, etc., are included in a reproducible entitled, The World According to Ramona. Use it in your newsletter or post it in the classroom or store. Everyone will love reading it!

Generate early excitement about the event by featuring the entire Ramona backlist (reissued from Avon Books with sparkling new covers!) along with Ramona's World. Create a window or tabletop display. Make a Klickitat Street sign to point the way or to highlight the display.

Use the template included here to create special name tags in advance for all your guests.

Read your favorite passages from some of the Ramona backlist titles. Can the children guess which book each passage is from? Then read a passage from Ramona's World. Do the children have a favorite book? Take a vote and decide!

Have kids and their parents describe their favorite memory about Ramona in a book in the store. Keep the book next to the display so that everyone can look through it. Later post excerpts on your bulletin board, quote them in your store newsletter, or send samples to your local newspaper with a story about the event.

Using your Klickitat Street sign to point the way, re-create Ramona's neighborhood in your store and hold a treasure hunt. Use clues from all the backlist titles, as well as Ramona's World. Consider giving the grand-prize winner a free book.

Ramona began to practice. Maybe someone would see her and offer her a million dollars to make a television commercial. -from RAMONA AND HER FATHER

Let your would-be Ramonas take the stage and see who can show off the best! Boys can join in this, too. You might want to have more than one winner.

Do you have a Ramona look-alike living in your neighborhood? Why not have a contest and decide. Let all the hopefuls take center stage. Then have everyone cast votes! Use a disposable camera to record all the contestants, or take one big group shot. Post it in your store.

Ramona can't wait to meet her teacher in the beginning of Ramona's World. Do the children have favorite teachers? What qualities make them so special? Each child can make an award ribbon to take to school for his or her favorite teacher. Or you can have an essay contest and announce the winner on the day of the party. This could be something your local paper might want to write up. You also might consider working with a local school district and inviting the winning teacher to your store.
