Just as Henry wishes that something exciting would happen, a police car stops in front of the Supermarket next door. What's going on? Is someone holding up the supermarket? It's a good thing that Henry sits up on the grease rack at the service station next door in his father's car. Now he can keep an eagle eye on the activity at the Supermarket. But, instead of the action scene he imagines, with burglars and suspicious-looking people, Henry sees his own dog Ribsy making all the mischief!

From his perch on the grease rack, Henry is horrified to see Ribsy push the door of the policeman's car open with his nose. Ribsy jumps into the front seat, then jumps out with a brown paper bag. Just at that moment, the policeman walks out of the supermarket and is not amused.

Ribsy, followed by Al and the policeman, ran around behind the station, where Henry could not see him. He listened to two pairs of feet running back and forth on the cement and wondered desperately what would happen next. Ribsy appeared from behind the station and raced around to the air and water hoses, where he dropped the bag and looked at the policeman. Henry did not know whether to yell or just slide down in the car and hide.

Ribsy gobbles down the policeman's sandwich and deviled egg. Will the policeman arrest Ribsy? Or give him a ticket? Will Henry and his dog ever stop getting into trouble?
